We have an exciting opportunity open for a Senior Accountant in Little Rock, AR.

 POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position will be responsible for the day-to-day revenue and associated cost of gas accounting for the natural gas utility companies within Summit Utilities, Inc. This role will report to the Manager of Revenue and Gas Cost Accounting and will work closely with other groups including FP&A, Regulatory, Gas Supply and Gas Management. The position will be responsible for analyzing data and calculating accruals for revenue and cost of gas. This role will also be responsible for reviewing and reconciling regulatory assets and liabilities to ensure their accuracy and completeness.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Analyze and complete journal entries for revenue, commodity expenses, regulatory assets and liabilities, and other entries as assigned

· Prepare all entries in accordance with the deadlines per the close calendar

· Perform analysis on revenue and commodity expenses as assigned

· Reconcile all revenue and cost of gas and regulatory balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis

· Participate in monthly revenue reviews with management

· Work with the FP&A and Regulatory teams on financial analysis and explanations

· Support the annual financial statement audits

· Provide accounting support for regulatory rate cases as required

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

· At least 5 years of similar, progressive experience required

· Proficiency in the use of Excel required

· Regulated utility accounting a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP)

· Strong analytical skills, with ability to analyze data and historical trends to determine reasonableness and accuracy entries and financial results.

· Ability to maintain motivation and focus to complete tasks within required timelines

· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks within tight timeframes

· Possesses strong organizational and project-planning skills

· Work requires professional written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work well in a team and independently
