Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of animal care and handling, as well as the technical skills necessary to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role involves working closely with animals, their owners, and veterinary staff to ensure the health and well-being of pets in our care.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Conduct animal catheterization and maintain aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Provide pet grooming services as needed, ensuring the comfort and safety of the animals.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Monitor animal behavior and vital signs before, during, and after procedures.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and training techniques.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kennel area and treatment rooms.
- Stay updated on veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and advancements in veterinary medicine.
Requirements
- Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology is preferred.
- Proven experience in animal handling and care; prior experience as a Veterinary Technician is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology related to veterinary practices.
- Familiarity with pet grooming techniques is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of animal anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to dog training or other specialized areas of veterinary care.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners is essential.
