Job Description
A "Virtual High School Student Support Specialist" is responsible for overseeing the academic and personal support of virtual students, ensuring they meet graduation requirements through online guidance, academic interventions, and facilitating occasional in-person meetings when necessary, all within a virtual learning environment; key duties include monitoring student progress, developing individualized learning plans, coordinating with teachers, and providing support to address academic challenges and personal barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities: Graduation Planning: Review student transcripts and course selections to ensure alignment with graduation requirements. Develop personalized graduation plans for each student, including course pathways and timelines. Monitor student progress towards graduation goals and intervene when necessary. Academic Support: Provide online tutoring and academic coaching to students struggling with coursework. Identify areas where students need additional support and coordinate with virtual teachers to implement interventions. Facilitate access to online learning resources and study materials. Student Monitoring and Intervention: Regularly review student performance data (grades, attendance, engagement) to identify potential issues. Conduct check-ins with students experiencing academic or personal challenges. Develop and implement individualized support plans for at-risk students. Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication with students, parents, and virtual teachers regarding academic progress and concerns. Collaborate with the virtual school counseling team to provide comprehensive student support. Facilitate virtual parent-teacher conferences. In-Person Support: Organize and conduct in-person meetings with students for personalized support or when necessary. Coordinate with local community resources to provide additional support services to students.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
