A Laboratory Assistant is needed to help us in our endeavor to build the healthiest community in the nation … one person at a time.
This position will be based at the new and innovative acute care behavioral health facility, which opened in late 2023. SummitStone has the privilege of partnering closely with Larimer County on this venture. This voter-approved facility provides licensed, equitable and culturally relevant care and treatment to individuals in crisis with mental health and/or substance use disorders. Experiences and Backgrounds We Look For
- Location: Fort Collins, CO
- Status: Full-time, 40/hrs. week
- Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 6:30am to 3:00pm
What You’ll Do:
As a Laboratory Assistant you will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples, providing accurate and timely results to support healthcare professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will work in a clinical laboratory setting and collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assures the quality of operations.
- Evaluate each request for a laboratory test to identify the proper number and type of containers necessary to facilitate distribution to appropriate laboratory sections and reference labs.
- Process specimens per testing lab requirements in a timely manner.
- Performs and assists with updates on all laboratory testing per Laboratory Procedure Manual guidelines.
- Perform quality control appropriate for the testing performed and document on the appropriate log.
- Remediate and document difficult tests or abnormal findings.
- Troubleshoot equipment failure and document the problem, steps taken, and final corrective actions.
- Review logs for clerical accuracy, clinical indications, and prepare for monthly audits.
- Call and document critical (panic) values to a provider or licensed staff.
- Follow department preventative maintenance schedules.
- Document instrument checks, preventative maintenance, routines, problems, and corrective actions taken.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least one year of experience in working within a Medical Laboratory required
- Certified phlebotomist required
Preferred:
- Will consider a Certified Medical Assistant for this role
- To be able to perform Venipuncture preferred
- Bilingual and Bi-cultural

Total Rewards
The typical hiring range for this position is $21.50 - $25.80 per hour, based on relevant years of experience.
Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential. Shift differentials are also available for evenings, nights, weekend and holidays.
