Experiences and Backgrounds We Look For

Responsible for clinically and administratively supervising medical support staff in outpatient Behavioral Health settings. The Medical Assistant Supervisor will oversee a team of medical assistants, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations. This role will work as part of an integrated care team and will collaborate across disciplines. Candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in medical assisting, and experience working in a medical or behavioral health environment.

The supervisor will collaborate with healthcare providers, assist with administrative tasks, and ensure the delivery of effective and empathetic behavioral health services.

  • Status: Full-time, 40/hrs. week


What You’ll Do:

  • Act as a resource to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care by planning, developing, and implementing medical support services.
  • Act as a role model and resource for staff demonstrate the ability to actively and expeditiously solve problems by servicing as a resource to staff and intervening in unsafe situations.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of medical support staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, scheduling, and workload distribution. Maintain medical support staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training staff.
  • Establish staff performance goals, by monitoring and evaluating performance,
  • Providing regular feedback, and coaching. Provide mentorship, monitoring, counseling, and regular feedback for employees.
  • Consistently and independently follow established safety procedures. Maintain a safe and clean working environment, by ensuring compliance with county, state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and organizational policy and procedures.
  • Conduct, support, and participate in staff meetings and inter-agency meetings as required. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement projects.
  • Perform all medical support duties including and not limited to actively staffing and working at any site, maintain inventory and supplies for the clinic, administering medications, taking vital signs, performing medical procedures, accepting telephone/walk in triage for clients, obtaining prior authorizations, refilling medication requests, conducting lab work, inventory processing, completing paperwork, and providing treatment follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with other interdisciplinary staff in developing and evaluating treatment programs. Act as a liaison between client and staff, facilitating timely treatment and support clinical and administrative functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and certification (CMA, RMA) required and/or a degree in Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant and/or Licensed Practical Nurse, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
  • Experience in leading a team and/or conducting training.
  • Experience in a community mental health setting preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, patients, and healthcare providers.
  • Medical and behavioral health terminology and treatment protocols.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations with professionalism and sensitivity
  • Knowledge of EPIC or a similar electronic health record (EHR)

Certifications:

  • Medical Assistant Certification or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, or ability to obtain withing 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record required.

Total Rewards


The typical hiring range for this position is $50,000 - $81,000/yea, based on relevant years of experience and licensure.


Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential. Shift differentials are also available for evenings, nights, weekend and holidays.
