A Peer Specialist - Multiple Teams is needed to help us in our endeavor to build the healthiest community in the nation … one person at a time.


Some positions will be based at the new and innovative acute care behavioral health facility, which opened in late 2023. SummitStone has the privilege of partnering closely with Larimer County on this venture. This voter-approved facility provides licensed, equitable and culturally relevant care and treatment to individuals in crisis with mental health and/or substance use disorders.   • Status: Full-time, 40/hrs. week

What You’ll Do:

As a Peer Specialist we will use your life experience from your personal journey of recovery of addiction and/or mental health challenges to engage, advocate, and link SummitStone Health Partners clients to formal or informal treatment activities, services, and/or supports. A Peer Specialist cultivates mutual, supportive relationships with clients as they navigate through systems. This looks like highlighting strengths, sitting in discomfort, and walking side-by-side with clients as they move toward goals of their choosing.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing direct client care through individual and group sessions face to face, phone or telehealth contact.
  • Services will be community based and centered around client's recovery goals.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation in medical health record and have knowledge of MS Windows and MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion with the relevant ability to engage, communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people of different backgrounds, identities, and culturally diverse communities.


We are seeking a Peer Specialist to join one of these teams:

  • Longview: Will be working out of Longview, supporting clients on Crisis Stabilization Unit, Withdrawal Management Units, and Urgent Care. Schedule is Sunday-Tuesday 7am-7pm, and every other Wednesday 9am-5:30pm.
  • Intensive Care Coordination (ICC): Will be working out of Longview, providing support for client’s post-discharge and filling other duties at Longview, as needed.
  • Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient/AIIM & Wellness Café: Will be providing support for SUDIOP clients, participating in groups and one on one care and supporting AIIM & Wellness Court Clients during transitional phases. Schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Must have at least 3 years of time without being on probation, parole, incarceration, halfway house, etc.


Required:

  • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D.
  • Applications will be considered for those who demonstrate active and sustained personal recovery for 1 years by providing 3 letters of recommendation.
  • No new charges or convictions in the last 2 years except for AIIM & Wellness which requires at least 3 years.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record.
  • Must complete training in SAHMSA Peer Core Competencies and COPA code of ethics prior to meeting with clients. (Training is included during the onboarding process).
  • Must obtain Colorado Peer Certification (CPFS) through COPA (Colorado Practitioners Association) within 1 year of employment. All training, experience hours, and payment for this certification are provided in-house.


Preferred:

  • Bilingual/bi-cultural preferred.
  • 2 years of sustained recovery preferred.

Total Rewards

The typical hiring range for this position is $21.50 - $25.80/hour, based on relevant years of experience.


Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential. Shift differentials are also available for evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
