Overview

A Safety Support Professional is needed to help us in our endeavor to build the healthiest community in the nation … one person at a time.

This position will be based at the new and innovative acute care behavioral health facility, which opened in late 2023.  SummitStone has the privilege of partnering closely with Larimer County on this venture.  This voter-approved facility provides licensed, equitable and culturally relevant care and treatment to individuals in crisis with mental health and / or substance use disorders.  For more information click HERE .

  • Location : Fort Collins, CO
  • Status : Full-time, 40 / hrs. week
  • Shift : Wednesday - Saturday 3 : 30pm to 2 : 00pm (10 hour shifts)

What You’ll Do :

Responsible for providing first line response to escalated clients and incidents across our programs / facilities, responding to safety codes, and handling urgent / emergent situations quickly as they arise in a professional and trauma informed manner with careful consideration of SHP policies, procedures, values and philosophy of care as part of a team that supports clients in healthy and therapeutic engagement while enrolled in inpatient and outpatient services. Respond quickly to effectively de-escalate and / or help manage safety incidents in our 64-bed Acute Care Longview Facility, as well as across our outpatient and community-based sites as assigned, including the ability to quickly grasp various situations, develop rapport with individuals who may be showing signs of emotional, verbal, or physical aggression, and to be supportive or directive as necessary and appropriate

Duties include, but are not limited to :

  • Engage with clients to support healthy and therapeutic engagement, management of interpersonal conflict, and prevention of escalation and other critical incidents.
  • Provide first line responses to escalated clients and incidents at our 24 / 7 facilities or other outpatient / community -based sites. Assist other staff in assessing potentially dangerous situations; intervene to prevent situations from escalating into violence. Assist staff in crises that may require physical interventions.
  • Perform both verbal de-escalation and physical management / control techniques on individuals showing signs of emotional, verbal and / or physical aggression.
  • Contact and assist law enforcement agencies and emergency health care personnel as requested or required.
  • Transport or provide support during transportation of escalated clients or clients in crisis.
  • Participate in and help facilitate safety drills across SummitStone facilities.
  • Provide excellent customer services, adhering to SHP’s values and philosophy of care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Required :

  • High school diploma or completion of G.E.D. required
  • Preferred :

  • More than two years of experience working in behavioral health setting or programs preferred
  • At least one year of experience as safety, security, or first responder preferred
  • Bilingual / bi-cultural preferred

    The typical hiring range for this position is $24.04 - $28.85 per hour, based on relevant years of experience.
