STATEMENT OF THE JOB:
Under the direct management of the Outpatient Program Manager the Outpatient Therapist role is responsible for providing therapeutic services to youth and families in Summitview’s outpatient and school-based mental health programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete comprehensive assessments and intake into services in compliance with agency documentation standards.
- Manage caseload by providing individual, family, and group therapy, in addition to collateral and case management services.
- Monitor client progress and modify treatment and care plans.
- Facilitate appropriate aftercare and discharge planning.
- Facilitate referrals and linkages to community resources.
- Provide client crisis response and intervention.
- Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary and inter-agency team, coordinating with family specialists, case managers, and psychiatrists, in addition to social service agencies, healthcare providers and other community partners and stakeholders.
- Meet the agency’s productivity requirements for billable services.
- Document services and contract measurement data in Summitview’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) within specified timeframes.
- Other tasks as assigned.
JOB EXPECTATIONS:
- Adheres to all policies and procedures including, but not limited to, HIPAA, PHI, Mandated Reporter Status & Procedures, Professional Relationships with Youth & Non-Minor Dependents, and all other Federal and State laws.
- Attends weekly team meetings and scheduled in-service training.
- Completes assigned program operational tasks in accordance with supervisory directives.
- Displays sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
- Practices good judgment and has ability to take initiative.
- Plans time efficiently and accordingly to complete necessary documents and projects.
- Works cooperatively with others in a team-oriented manner.
- Must participate in Performance Quality Improvement and Risk Prevention.
- Provides and practices trauma-informed care services and methods; actively uses empathy and understanding in treatment of clients.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted California Driver’s License; personal automobile liability insurance; and a driving record acceptable to Summitview’s insurance carrier.
- Must be physically and mentally fit; must be willing to complete a health screening including physical examination as required by our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL); and must have the unrestricted capacity to employ physical restraint techniques in a professionally safe manner.
- Must be willing to present a recent negative Tuberculosis test or be willing to take one.
- COVID-19 vaccination inclusive of booster doses are strongly encouraged but not required.
- Must be willing to complete and pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) personal background investigation to meet the requirements of our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL).

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered or licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an ASW, AMFT, APCC, LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC.
- Internship and practicum roles will be considered.
- Experience and training in evidence-based practices preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) preferred.
- Basic Microsoft Office and other relevant software experience preferred.
OTHER:
- Employment is at‐will.
- This position is an hourly, full‐time, non‐exempt position.
- This position is 40hrs per week Monday – Friday, with hours between 8:30am and 7pm. Hours are dependent on the program and client needs, with the occasional need for on-call services.
- Position follows Wage Order 5 overtime rules.
