Wanted: Full and Part time Child Care Staff
As we continue to grow and expand, we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. We strive to have a family like work environment and have a strong team mentality. Our staff are dedicated not only to the kids and families but also to each other. We have had several staff members leave to pursue other career paths, but then have returned due to the atmosphere and camaraderie that we have created here at Sumner Daycare and Learning Center. Our center cares for children 6 weeks of age all the way up to 12 year olds. We are open Monday through Friday 5:30am to 6pm and closed for all major holidays. We are a nonprofit organization that was formed by community members who saw the need for childcare in the community. Our philosophy is to offer a quality environment with learning opportunities that foster the development of the whole child: intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally.What we are looking for....
Must:
-Be at least 16 years old
-Pass a rigorous background check
-Be able to lift up to 50 lbs
-Complete all necessary training needed for working in childcare in time frame given
-Be able to follow all safety regulations and guidelines
-Have patience, passion for teaching, good communication skills, a love of young children, be caring and compassionate, flexible, have empathy, organizational skills, be a team player, creative, and dedicated to the kids you work with.
-Be able to handle difficult situations such as challenging behaviors
-Be flexible and understanding to the needs of the children and the center. Young children move a mile a minute, aren’t always the best listeners and are learning just about everything as if it’s brand new.
Duties:
- Assist the lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities
- Support students in their learning and development, providing individualized attention as needed
- Help maintain a safe and nurturing classroom environment
- Collaborate with the lead teachers to create and implement behavior management strategies
- Assist with classroom management, including maintaining order and discipline
- Provide support during transitions and ensure smooth flow of daily routines
- Assist with the preparation of materials and resources for lessons and activities
- Supervise students during outdoor playtime and other activities
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a daycare or preschool setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and curriculum development (preferred)
- Experience working with students with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum (preferred)
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and strategies (preferred)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (required)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team (required)
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children (required)
No formal training or experience necessary but preferred.

Pay based on experience and education ranging from $9-$13 an hour.
