Technical and administrative coordination of public safety radio and public safety technology programs, mission-critical hardware, software, and technical support to public safety agencies. This position provides information technology and communications technical support and assistance for the Emergency Communications Center and Public Safety Radio System. The Public Safety Network Coordinator installs, configures, and troubleshoots computer networks and hardware. The employee performs network and hardware maintenance and works closely with contracted vendors to ensure systems operate correctly with minimal interruption.

The employee performs network and hardware maintenance and works closely with contracted vendors to ensure systems operate correctly with minimal interruption.
Essential Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.
- Creates and secures user accounts and resources.
- Understand environmental security, confidentiality, integrity and availability of data.
- Manages enterprise software applications on servers and end user computers.
- Provides users with hardware and application support.
- Works directly with outside contractors to support public safety radio, computer aided dispatch (CAD) and other contracted resources.
- Tracks the progress of communications and technology projects. For projects behind schedule, develops a plan of action and recommendations for implementation.
- Inventories, inspects, and tests response equipment such as radios, supplies, computers, and facility systems, as assigned.
- In case of an emergency or crisis (hurricane, flood, etc.), the position must respond/perform recovery duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Maintains regular physical attendance during normal work hours as assigned at one of the County's offices or work facilities with the ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Advanced training and computer hardware/software installation work experience.
- Experience monitoring network performance, installing updates, integrating new server hardware and applications.
- Ability to research and make recommendations on server system administration.
- Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
- Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies
- Skill in the use of computers and the ability to access, operate, and maintain various software applications and operate basic office equipment.
- Skill in interpersonal communications with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to conduct presentations and platform instruction.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with other agencies, personnel, co-workers, and the public.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions quickly.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in information technology or communications.
- Valid Florida Driver's License and driving record acceptable to the insurance provider.
- Must possess or obtain the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications within six (6) months of employment.

- Acceptable vision (with or without correction)
- Acceptable hearing (with or without correction)
- Ability to sit or stand or walk for long periods
- Lifting equipment up to 25 lbs. alone; up to 50 lbs. with assistance
- Must be able to communicate, both orally and in writing, effectively
- Routinely works regular office hours, but must be prepared to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, or overtime when required.
- Requires some local travel to perform assessments or attend meetings.
- May be required to attend out-of-town seminars/training of overnight or longer duration.
