What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquatics (Pool) Tech ~ Full Time position at Sun City Grand/The Grand?
Sun City Grand/The Grand is the premier active, age-restricted community in Arizona. We are currently seeking a full-time Pool Tech to properly maintain our pools & spas at the Adobe Fitness Center and/or the Cimarron Fitness Center.
**Regular schedule is 1:00PM - 10:00PM.**
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Clean and maintain pools in a safe and sanitary condition; brush and vacuum pools according to established procedures; scrub pool tiles;
- Check and perform preventative maintenance on pumps, chlorinators, heating and filtration equipment to maintain operative condition;
- Clean and disinfect pool deck areas;
- Conduct chemical tests of water; apply chemicals as appropriate; order chemicals and supplies as needed;
- Maintain filters, back wash and pumps according to established procedures;
- Operate a variety of machines and equipment including pumps, hoses and brushes;
- Prepare and maintain records regarding chlorine and PH levels, supplies and County Health Department records;
- Repair pool deck equipment as needed;
- Set up pool equipment for classes and occasional swim events;
- Keep current with events and activities occurring at The Grand; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to:
· Work in small, confined spaces for extended periods of time;
· Work in a wet environment;
· Transport oneself around the common areas as well as the facilities;
· Work extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary;
· Work on more than one task at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays; remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances;
· Work effectively in a team environment;
· Deal with the public tactfully and courteously in person and on the telephone;
· Be aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns;
· Understand and comply with both oral and written instructions;

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
HS degree or equivalent; or a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above. Must possess, and maintain, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Preferred: Experience in pool maintenance; CPO certification a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Constant Demands: see, hear. Frequent Demands: sit, stand, push, shove, ability to sustain repetitive hand motion associated with the operation of computers, hand and power tools; must be able to sustain continuous physical effort including ability to bend, walk, climb (ladders and inclines), kneel, stoop and operate various motor driven equipment. Occasional Demands: requires the physical strength and agility required to carry heavy equipment (lift and carry up to 50 pounds); exposure to small and confined spaces.
Environmental Factors: alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and with proper lighting, to an outdoors setting with variable climate and lighting; may be exposed to high noise levels.
Employee is required to maintain confidentiality of information within the department.
May be required to deal with disgruntled individuals requiring the use of conflict management skills; is frequently required to perform work in confidence and under pressure for deadlines; and is required to maintain professional composure and tact, patience and courtesy at all times.
