JOB TITLE: Network & Access Field Tech
LOCATION: Houston, TX
POSITION REPORTS TO: Service Desk Manager
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday. 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some overtime, weekends, and travel will be required
COMPENSATION: Hourly. Commensurate with skills and experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Running, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting indoor and outdoor Cat 5, Cat 6, and on rare occasions fiber cable
* Installing and maintaining camera systems. This includes cabling, positioning, software installation, setting up views, granting/revoking permissions, and troubleshooting of the aforementioned responsibilities
* Installation and maintenance of access control systems including locks, keypads, Access control units, key cards, and other credentials
* Respond to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns
* Handle work orders, paperwork, transport a variety of tools, equipment and supplies and ensure. the availability of materials required at job site
* Disassemble broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassemble equipment when repairs are complete
* Program and deploy networking equipment such as Meraki switches, Meraki Access points, Palo Alto Firewalls, Battery Backups, and Ubiquiti wireless bridges
* Assisting with basic Helpdesk and Desktop Support functions when required
* Other tasks as assigned by manager and team lead
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
* Valid driver's license and a good driving record (must be able to pass MVR)
* Stable Job history
* Minimum 1-year prior experience in a similar role
* Must have knowledge of installation methods such as neatly installing cable in a conduit using push/pull rods and pull string
* Must be familiar with basic cabling and CAT5 cable termination and troubleshooting
* Ability to mount and install backboards, cross connect racks, cabling rings and patch panels
* Familiarity with IP addresses, command prompt, subnetting, VLANs, and other basic network functions and tools
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
* Ability to exert 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force constantly
* Ability to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk, reach above shoulder, and work in a standing position for long periods of time
* Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal with managers and other personnel
* Must not be afraid of heights or tight spaces
* Must be able to travel for up to a week at a time
PREFERRED
* Computer networking experience
* Genetec and Milestone experience
* IP camera experience, Axxis preferred
* Meraki Experience
