Job Summary:
The Export Supervisor is responsible for managing and directing export team leaders in the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of the products in a professional manner.
Essential job functions:
- Supervise and assist daily export warehouse and shipping areas including: Filling and shipping customer orders, satisfying internal shipping requirements
- Ensure accuracy of shipments and supporting documentation, receiving incoming material and routing to appropriate area or personnel, filling work orders from production, ensuring inventory transactions are accurately logged and overseeing cycle counts and reconciliation activities
- Measure and report the effectiveness of the department activities
- Develop and maintain departmental work instructions for all tasks
- Establish and/or adjust work procedures to meet warehouse demands as dictated by production schedules and work flow
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
- Recommend measures to improve quality of service, increasing efficiency of department and work crew and equipment performance
- Continuously improve warehouse operations through the use of lean enterprise practices
- Comply with company Health & Safety policies
- Manage inventory accuracy through monitoring of daily warehouse activities, cycle counts, stock takes and audit of same to verify results.
- Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior
- Establish, maintain and promote high standards of customer service
- Ensure compliance with OHSA procedures and practices are being followed
- Supervision of all staff under your direct or indirect control
- Administrative duties as required to ensure daily KPI performance is achieved
- Train and monitor staff in standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices, including new employee inductions and tool box talks
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and serving internal customers, drivers, and warehouse personnel
Minimum Requirements:
- 4 year college degree (Preferred)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in management role, in warehouse export distribution or related field
- OSHA certified
- Good understanding of USDA regulations
- Familiar with DOT rules and regulations
- Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications
- Ability
to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals - Must have excellent customer service skills, and supervisory/leadership skills; as well as experience using change management and conflict resolution
- Ability to manage and complete multiple responsibilities within established timeframes
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Work to be performed in a warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from -22 degrees Fahrenheit to 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Job frequently requires regular lifting of up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing of ladders, handling objects with hands, standing, walking; repeated twisting at the torso while lifting and pulling inventory from shelves; stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
- Operate various pieces of warehouse equipment (Cherry pickers, Forklifts, Pallet jacks) to include daily maintenance
- Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable priorities can be anticipated; frequent interruptions, occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor
