Description
The Human Resources Assistant works under the direction of the Human Resources Generalist. The HR Assistant provides both generalized and specialized staff assistance in a wide range and combination of activities for the Human Resources department. The HR assistant will have both administrative and recruiting responsibilities including applicant sourcing, screening, tracking, interviewing, reference checks, payroll processing, staffing, training and development, compensation and benefits and other general HR administration.
Requirements
· Ensures that human resources files and records are maintained in compliance with all levels of legal requirements and applicable employment laws as well as company policies and procedures.
· Maintain confidential department files to include personnel files, workers compensation, unemployment compensation and benefit files.
· Maintains human resources database and ensures the systems’ records are accurately and timely recorded and up to date.
· Assist with recruitment by performing searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, internet recruiting resources, job fairs, or employee referral
· Processes new hire paperwork by conducting references, processing background checks and tracking processes.
· Processes and ensures compliance with USICS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; Periodically audits Form I-9.
· Schedules and conduct new hire orientation and onboarding.
· Ensures that EEO reporting functions are up to date and in compliance with federal regulations.
· Assists with new hire enrollment and annual open enrollment communications and election process.
· Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans, reviews benefit with employee and processes cancellations or changes.
· Assists administering employee performance related to performance actions and maintaining and update training records.
· Responds to, maintains, and monitors STD, LTD, FMLA and personal leave requests.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Processes weekly payroll including weekly updates to the employee files, bonus/incentive pay, tracking vacation/sick pay and benefit changes and provides reports as needed.
· Assists in the communication, interpretation and upkeep of safety policies, employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart and contributes to the development of policies
Skills and Qualifications
· Associates degree in HR, business, or a related field with 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing human resources setting preferred.
· Proven ability to build positive relationships with employees and management.
· Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills. Communicate clearly, effectively, tactfully and patiently to a diverse population with ethical and cultural awareness.
· Solid knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
· Strong ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll, benefits, and associate issues and follow through issues to the end
· Human Resources or Customer Service training and experience.
· Strong ability to organize, prioritize, solve problems and meet deadlines and goals.
Preferred Qualifications
· 1 year of exposure to Human Resources Functions
· Knowledge of HRIS a plus
· Knowledge of HR federal and state laws and regulations
· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
