Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for managing the accounting department to ensure the protection and proper management of corporate assets, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role will oversee the general ledger, cash management, financial closings, and support audits to maintain financial accuracy and compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversee personnel in Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and General Ledger (GL) Accounting (4 total).
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Oversee day-to-day financial operations, managing the accounting team to ensure smooth execution of financial processes and compliance.
· Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
· Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing financial insights and analysis to senior management.
· Monitor cash flow, manage accounts payable/receivable, and reconcile bank accounts to ensure liquidity and financial accuracy.
· Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including preparation and submission of tax filings.
· Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and coordinate external audits, exams and appraisals resolving any issues or discrepancies.
· Analyze financial data to provide actionable insights for business decision-making.
· Maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts.
· Review and monitor accruals and prepayments for proper posting.
· Review, process, and post payroll and commissions.
· Create and post journal entries, including recurring entries.
· Coordinate with inventory/NP to review and calculate cost standards; provide variance reporting.
· Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
· Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
· Experience with ERP systems, including data extraction from SQL databases.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
· Knowledge of manufacturing variance accounting and cost accounting methodologies.
Education and Experience:
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Controller in a manufacturing environment.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· CPA, CMA or MBA certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
· Ability to use a computer/keyboard for long periods of time.
