Position Title: IT Support Technician
Department: Administration - Information Technology
Reports to: Director of Information Technology
FLSA Status: Part-Time; Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: 6 – Starting hourly rate $15.00
Applicable qualifications and previous work experience will be given special consideration when establishing pay.
Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the IT Support Technician provides support for day-to-day IT operations within the District. The ideal candidate will assist with Microsoft 365 administration, basic networking, help desk support, and general IT tasks. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving and helping end-users with technical issues.
Essential Job Functions (Illustrative Only):
Microsoft 365 Support:
- Assists with the administration and maintenance of Microsoft 365 (M365) services, including user setup, email, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Helps troubleshoot M365-related issues, such as account permissions and service disruptions.
Networking Assistance:
- Supports the department with basic network maintenance - including monitoring routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Assists with troubleshooting connectivity issues and maintaining network documentation.
Help Desk Support:
- Provides Level 1 support for end-users, assisting with software, hardware, and system-related issues.
- Helps to manage help desk tickets and respond to users promptly.
- Assists with the set up and configuration of new hardware, such as computers and printers
General IT Assistance:
- Assists with the installation and configuration of IT systems.
- Provides support with regular maintenance tasks, including software updates and equipment troubleshooting.
- Help maintain IT inventory and document IT assets.
Other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services and basic user management.
- Experience with basic networking tasks.
- Working experience with IT support ticketing systems.
- Basic understanding of networking (IP addresses, routers, switches, Wi-Fi).
- Ability to troubleshoot common hardware and software issues.
- Strong communication skills to assist non-technical users.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Team player with a customer-focused approach.
Experience/Education/Certification/License:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), required
- Associate’s degree or certification in Information Technology or a related field, preferred
- 1 years of experience providing IT support or help desk services.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable by the District to operate District vehicles or have consistent, reliable transportation to report for shifts.
Work Hours:
As a part-time employee of the District, this position may be scheduled for up to 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday (weekly hours may vary based on the workload and needs of the department). This schedule is subject to change as required to meet the needs of the District. Must be willing to work overtime and/or alternate schedules as required.
