JOB PURPOSE
The Production Planner will oversee the production planning process, ensuring efficient use of resources, optimum levels of inventory, and timely delivery of products. The role involves utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to manage production schedules, monitor inventory, and coordinate production activities across departments. The ideal candidate will have experience utilizing ERP systems to streamline production planning, minimize costs, and enhance productivity. This role will assist the Production Manager in all areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Scheduling:Plan and schedule production activities based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and available resources, ensuring products are delivered on time.
System Management:Utilize ERP systems to track and manage production orders, inventory levels, and material requirements.
Inventory Management:Monitor inventory of ingredients, packaging, and finished products and ensure timely procurement to prevent production delays. Coordinate with other leads and managers to manage stock levels efficiently.
Capacity Planning:Evaluate production capacity and adjust schedules to optimize the use of labor, machinery, and materials.
Order Coordination:Prioritize production orders and align resources with customer requirements and production timelines.
Data Analysis & Reporting:Generate reports to analyze production performance, inventory status, and resource utilization. Provide actionable insights to management.
Issue Resolution:Identify and address potential bottlenecks or delays in the production process. Work with cross-functional teams to find solutions to production challenges.
Collaboration:Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth production flow and meet customer delivery deadlines.
Continuous Improvement:Support initiatives to improve production efficiency, reduce lead times, and enhance overall performance using systems, software, tools and other best practices.
Compliance:Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards during production processes.
Assist with scheduling the production team while nurturing a positive working environment.
Serves as a back up to the Production Manager on the Emergency Management Team.
Participate in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as deemed necessary.
Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field (preferred).
Proven experience as a Production Planner or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong experience with ERP systems for production planning and inventory management.
