Job Summary:
Sun Pharma is seeking a Trademark Paralegal within its Intellectual Property Department in Princeton. The Trademark Paralegal will report into the Associate Director, Intellectual Property and will assist with all matters relating to the coordination and maintenance of the trademark portfolio. This position supports the Associate Director, Intellectual Property, and local IP Department in daily activities managing the Company’s trademarks, IP review of advertising/marketing/promotional materials and other business materials, trade dress, oppositions, and litigation.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities broadly relate to procurement, maintenance, and proper usage of the Company’s U.S. and Canadian trademark portfolio.
The Trademark Paralegal will work with and support the Associate Director of Intellectual Property and external legal counsel to:
Prepare and submit document, forms, and office action responses to the USPTO and Canadian Intellectual Property Office.
Coordinate with overseas trademark team to conduct preliminary availability searches and, in some instances, conduct and review searches independently utilizing internet-based resources.
Coordinate with internal clients to prosecute, maintain, and renew trademark applications and registrations, including obtaining of samples and other documents for securing trademark registrations.
Monitor corporate trademarks by conducting weekly reviews of watch reports and preliminary investigations of potential conflicting marks.
Review advertising, marketing, corporate materials, labelling, artwork and packaging components for OTC, Brand Marketing and Generic Medicines groups to provide trademark and trade dress clearance and ensure proper usage of trademarks, including scripts for proposed videos, websites, etc.
This person will also be required to assist in other IP related projects as needed, including but not limited to providing litigation support, drafting cease & desist letters, , and assisting in budget preparation.
Experience in clearing trademarks/trade dress, preparing/filing/prosecuting trademark applications is required
Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Experience with U.S. and international trademark databases required
Experience with trademark docketing or docket management software (e.g. CPI) required
Knowledge of USPTO and CIPO databases (e.g., TSDR, TESS, TTAB)
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and deliver on internal and external deadlines through good organization and time management
Qualifications:
An undergraduate college degree, paralegal certification or equivalent work experience.
4-8 years intellectual property trademark experience in a large IP law-firm and/or in-house corporate legal department is required.
Salary : $71,000 - $108,000
