General Summary
SUN Printing is currently seeking an experienced machine/bindery operator, with an excellent understanding of printing and finishing techniques, to join our team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates a label application machine with RFID.
- Operates cutting equipment with accuracy and little or no waste
- Works independently with little supervision; initiates work and knows what needs to be done; is a self-starter
- Follows written job ticket orders and verbal instructions from the Production Manager
- Visually inspects product prior to, during and after the run to ensure the it is correct and meets quality standards
- Keeps equipment and work area clean and organized; practices safe and correct procedures to avoid injury and accidents
- Performs general and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment
- Keeps the Production Manager informed of snags and time constraints; regularly asks questions to meet the customer’s expectations through combined teamwork
- Keeps the Production Manager informed of supply levels and supply needs
- Is ready, willing and able to learn new and different techniques
- Assists co-workers with questions; works cooperatively with all employees
- Operates other bindery equipment as needed including, but not limited to, folders, collators, scoring, perfing, numbering and packaging equipment
- Is responsible for moving finished jobs to the next department
- Assists with loading and unloading deliveries
- Records accurate, complete and thorough information on job ticket and other documents
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Has an excellent understanding of printing and finishing techniques
- Has excellent mechanical skills and dexterity to operate equipment
- Is thorough and follows through with detail
- Is an individual who is conscious of excellent quality and strives for it
- Possesses above average math skills
- Has the ability to lift product up to 75 lbs.
- Is able to stand for long periods of time
- Is able to accept direction and instructions willingly to reach desired results; possesses a high level of integrity; can remain calm and focused
- Two years of advanced training or two years of proven experience in the field of printing.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
