Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time Dentist to join our team at our Poughkeepsie, NY site.
A Dentist provides dental care patients of agency by diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and guns; and all other duties as assigned. S/he performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specifics standards.
Responsibilities:
- Completes examination of the patient’s teeth, gums, and surrounding structures using a mouth mirror, dental explorer, periodontal probe, dental instruments, and other diagnostic aids such as dental radiographic images from dental x-rays, to enter clinical findings from intraoral/extraoral head and neck evaluation including oral cancer screening; tobacco use screening; dental caries detection, periodontal disease exam, oral pathology, etc. with help of a dental assistant, in OpenDental and in the patient's eCW medical record to formulate and carry out the most feasible plan of treatment
- Provides preventive dentistry counseling, anticipatory guidance, evaluation of nutritional status and oral hygiene habits of patients with or without the aid of a dental hygienist.
- Locates and repairs cavities in teeth following discussion of findings with dental radiographs to formulate a treatment plan
- Reviews findings from full mouth periodontal exam on adults (25 ) to diagnose perio disease and design of a perio tx plan.
- Extracts infected, or otherwise diseased/hopeless teeth.
- Oversees dental team at site, D&S oversight at site, weekly order oversight, direct staff on identifying and reporting equipment that needs repair, attend site staff and leadership meetings, attend departmental meetings, communicate and coordinate with HCD, DDO, CDO issues at site related to dental operations.
- Consults with heads of other patient care services in planning most appropriate dental treatment to be used, for coordinating patient problems (behavioral, medical; etc.).
- Takes impressions and models of jaws and teeth in preparation for dentures and crowns.
- Performs root canal therapy on anterior teeth and other teeth where root canal anatomy is within the skill set of the dentist
Minimum Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Education Requirement:
Master’s Degree
Minimum Licensure/Certification/ Registration Requirement:
- D.D.S or D.M.D. from an approved dental school
- Must have a New York State License
- CPR/ BLS Certification
Preferred Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Specialty board certification
Specialized Skills & Knowledge:
Ability to communicate in English (orally and written)
Salary Range: $158,904.20 to $173,791.80 / annually
