Dean of Students
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT SUN VALLEY ACADEMY
As the Dean of Students, you will work closely with the site principal, and be responsible for student discipline and have oversight of multiple school functions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with the site principal and administrative team to implement meaningful student assessment, data collection and analysis to effectively monitor student growth, and inform educational practice
- Enhance overall quality of student life to include programming student focused events, extracurricular activities, and overseeing student behavior
- Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and students to provide students with assistance in meeting their educational needs
- Coordinate, facilitate and implement disciplinary intervention steps, including Leader in Me (LIM) habits, and working closely with the school Principal
- Support teachers with the management of their advisory teams and respond appropriately to student issues
- Manage and oversee school master calendar
- Assist with ensuring a productive learning environment through continual collaboration with teachers, students, and parents
- Facilitate opportunities to connect with students, staff and community members by being present and available during arrival and dismissal, by appearing at school functions, and being responsive to said stakeholders
- Implement student discipline management practices that support changes in student behavior, effective classroom instruction, and a safe school environment
- Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all governing policies and regulations by the school's staff and students
- Site test coordinators for AZELLA and AZM2 State testing
- Assist with supervision of support staff (e.g. paraprofessionals)
- Collaborate with site principal to create and monitor before, during and after school duty schedules
- Assist with scholar recruitment initiatives
- Manage incoming scholar assessments
- Manage and oversee all Kinder contracts and 45 day screeners
- Serve as the liaison to the parent coalition
- Collaborate and manage the SPED Program in conjunction with the site principal
- Manage, develop and oversee school assemblies, award ceremonies and special events
- Manage and oversee sports and extracurricular programs
- Manage and oversee field trips
- Provide support with curriculum implementation
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students
- Monitor and organize attendance functions; prepare letters, call parents, and attend meetings as needed regarding absent or tardy students; provide leadership for attendance improvement efforts
- Provide direction to a variety of faculty, staff, and student programs and services; participate in formal and informal classroom visitations and observations; provide recommendations and suggestions for improvement as appropriate
- Liaison to the after-school program in collaboration with school staff and/or personnel from outside agencies
- Attend meetings of parent and other groups; provides supervision for afternoon and evening activities
- Offer additional training and guidance as necessary based on evaluations of professional staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's in Education or related subjects
- At least five (5) years of teaching experience required
- Fingerprint Clearance Card
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- School Administrator License
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to professionally and effectively communicate with educators, parents, and community leaders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent supervisory and leadership skills
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, fingering, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Employees must be subject to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Employees must be able to physically manage a classroom with small children ensuring the safety of the children at all times.
