HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT SUN VALLEY ACADEMY

As the Health Aide, you will be responsible for providing care to students for general health, injury, or illness. You will also:

• Administer first aid to injured students and provide short-term care to enhance the comfort and safety of injured or ill students
• Administer and record medications in accordance with school policy
• Assist with the implementation of the COVID-19 mitigation plan and other school needs related to the coronavirus
• Work in consultation with appropriate parties to have a working knowledge of medications administered to students
• Take and record vital signs of students seen in the health office
• Maintain student sign-in logs for all visits to the health office
• Assist with vision and other health screenings
• Maintain chronic health conditions, daily visits and health screenings for each student
• Coordinate with families to send ill or injured students home
• Maintain a clean, organized health office
• Exhibit patience, courtesy and tact when dealing with students and parents
• Demonstrate empathy when caring for injured/ill students
• Empathize when caring for disabled persons and injured/ill students
• Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to applicable policies related to student records and confidentiality
• Assist the front office team with other duties as needed
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED
• Current First Aid and CPR certification from an approved provider
• Maintain appropriate training in AED, CPR, and First Aid on a yearly basis
• Effective oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in a school setting working with children or adolescents

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Capable of managing multiple tasks
• Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time
• Possess prioritization and organization skills
• Communicate effectively within all levels of the organization
• Skilled at working alone or in a team environment
• Ability to reach, stoop, bend, pull and occasionally carry up to 20 pounds
