What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lift Operator position at Sun Valley Resort?
The Lift Operator is responsible for safely loading and unloading guests of all ages and abilities using our chairlifts. As a member of the lift department team, the lift operator will provide exceptional service for our guests during their visit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow company/department safety policies and procedures.
- Able to work independently or in a small group to accomplish daily job-related tasks.
- Complete pre-operational procedures and inspections.
- Assist in snow removal, daily set up and routine maintenance of work areas.
- Anticipate guests’ needs and provide service above and beyond guest expectations.
- Remain alert for guests improperly loading and unloading the ski lifts.
- Assist with completing lift closing procedures.
- Work with all mountain departments respectfully in assisting and resolving issues that could arise during the operations.
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old is required
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- The ability to read and speak English fluently is mandatory
- Can work in the outdoors and various weather elements (rain, sun, heat, cold, snow, etc.)
- Skiing or snowboarding ability of intermediate or above is required
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, nights, and early mornings (6 a.m.)
- Able to work through the entire winter season
- Possess strong verbal communication skills and the ability to hear and respond to instructions, inquires, and information
- Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, poking, and reaching
- Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
