What are the responsibilities and job description for the Snowmaker (Year-Round) position at Sun Valley Resort?
The Sun Valley Snowmaker full-time year-round position is a fun, important, and varied role. The Snowmaking position has two distinct seasons: Summer and Winter Operations. The off-season summer maintenance position typically starts in March and continues through October. The winter operation mode typically begins in November and continues until February. The Snowmaking system consists of 650 automated snowguns, connected via over 30 miles of pipe and over 15 miles of power and communication cables. There are also 21 pumps and motors, and nine compressors. The Snowmaking team also owns and operates the domestic water system.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work under the direction of the Foreman and Manager
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Perform all manner of maintenance on the Automated Snowmaking and domestic water systems
- Be a positive influence for co-workers and guests alike
- Perform preventative maintenance on the Snowmaking system
- Troubleshoot operational issues during winter and summer operations
- Work closely with Snowmaking teammates and all Mountain Departments
Qualifications:
- A current U.S. Driver's License is required
- Previous Snowmaking experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools and safe use
- Ability to adapt and maintain a high level of focus
- Can work outdoors with various weather elements (rain, sun, heat, cold, snow, etc.)
