As a Vehicle Mechanic I at Sun Valley Resort, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing the resort’s fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring the safety and reliability of transportation and operations. This entry-level position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals eager to gain experience in vehicle maintenance and grow within a dynamic environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and clean environment in the garage at all times
- Repair and maintain diesel and gas engines
- Work as part of a team and assist other employees in diagnosis and repairs
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic repairs on a variety of vehicles, including resort shuttles, service trucks, snowplows, and small engines
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues under supervision
- Move equipment safely in and out of the service building
- Complete work orders and daily paperwork
- Conduct oil changes, brake replacements, tire rotations, and other essential services
- Assist senior mechanics with complex repairs, including engine rebuilds and transmission overhauls
- Operate tools, diagnostic equipment, and machinery safely and efficiently
- Monitor and stock essential repair parts and supplies as needed
- Uphold Sun Valley Resort’s standards for customer service, safety, and operational excellence
- May be called on to operate company vehicles to transport equipment, supplies, or personnel to and from the mountain as needed. This includes running errands, completing assigned tasks, and ensuring the safe and timely delivery of items or passengers while adhering to company policies and traffic regulations
Qualifications:
- A current U.S. Driver’s License is required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive or equipment maintenance
- Experience with the diagnosis and repair of major mechanical, electrical, and computer systems on modern vehicles
- Familiarity with heavy equipment maintenance and previous experience with pick-ups and vans preferred
- Welding experience preferred
- Have essential tools and toolbox
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, poking, and reaching
- Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
