This position is at the intersection of data science, plant breeding, and cutting-edge agricultural technologies, and your work will directly impact the speed and precision of breeding cycles, trait discovery, and the successful integration of genomic technologies like gene editing and genomic selection. You’ll contribute to driving the future of sustainable agriculture by enabling data-driven decisions that lead to faster, more reliable product development and help Sun World maintain its competitive edge in the market.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Advanced Breeding Data Analysis and Modeling

  • Apply statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and computational models to analyze and interpret complex genomic, phenotypic, and environmental datasets.
  • Conduct exploratory and hypothesis-driven analyses to uncover phenotypic-genotypic relationships and assess their interaction with environmental variables.
  • Lead the analysis of genomic, phenotypic, and environmental data to identify key traits, genetic markers, and associations that will drive crop improvement and accelerate breeding pipelines.
  • Support gene editing initiatives by analyzing datasets to identify optimal gene editing targets, contributing to more precise, efficient, and commercially viable gene editing processes.
  • Work closely with breeders, geneticists, agronomists, and commercial teams to ensure data insights align with strategic breeding goals and inform decision-making in trait selection, gene editing, and product development.

2. Genomic Selection and Breeding Decision Support

  • Facilitate the implementation of genomic selection strategies to enhance breeding efficiency and accuracy by identifying high-potential candidates for new crop varieties.
  • Analyze genomic data to link genetic markers with desirable traits, optimize selection indices, and validate predictive models that will improve breeding decision-making.
  • Provide data-driven support for the development and refinement of breeding strategies, helping to identify the most effective paths for trait selection, genetic gain, and the integration of genomic selection.
  • Collaborate with breeders and geneticists to ensure that breeding decisions are driven by actionable insights, fostering an efficient and data-informed breeding process.
  • 3. Visualization, Reporting, and Communication

  • Develop advanced, user-friendly data visualizations that communicate complex insights in an accessible way to diverse stakeholders, including breeders, geneticists, agronomists, and commercial teams.
  • Create automated reporting tools that provide real-time, actionable data insights, enabling breeding teams to make informed, data-driven decisions at every stage of the product development process.
  • Design dynamic dashboards and visualizations to monitor key breeding metrics, trait progress, and selection outcomes, ensuring stakeholders can track developments in real-time.
  • Synthesize and present findings in a clear and actionable format, making complex genetic, phenotypic, and environmental data easily understandable to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ensure reports and visualizations are tailored to the specific needs of different audiences, such as product development teams, commercialization teams, and upper management. These tools will support the alignment of breeding efforts with business and market objectives.
  • Requirements :
