Job Title: Warehouse Supervisor - Food Production
Location: Paw Paw
Reports to: Plant Manager
Job Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading our team of material handlers, inventory Customer Service Representatives, and Inventory Specialist. Priority one is coordinating support for their efforts to safely and consistently facilitate service to both internal and external customers and suppliers. The role involves supervising team members, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and continuously improving processes. The warehouse supervisor will work closely with the scheduler and production teams to ensure ingredients and materials are delivered to the right place and at the right time to facilitate efficient achievement of production goals. Experience in warehousing leadership and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles are a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned warehouse team.
- Assign tasks and monitor Individual & Team performance to ensure that goals are met.
- Provide training and development guidance for team members.
- Ensure that related equipment and machinery are properly used and maintained.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to prioritize improvement efforts and track the success of initiatives, enabling data-driven decision making.
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee routine execution of the inventory accounting tasks such as cycle counts, ordering, receiving, billing, and internal movement tracking of materials and finished goods.
- Monitor adherence to related standard operating procedures (SOP), coordinate SOP additions and or refinements as needed and conduct training / retraining as appropriate.
- Lean Manufacturing Implementation:
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to streamline material handling and inventory accounting practices to eliminate waste.
- Train and mentor team members on Lean tools and techniques, such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the warehouse grounds and inventory to ensure adherence to company quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work with the quality assurance team to implement, maintain, and improve quality control procedures.
- Monitor and refine material handling and truck loading practices to best preserve quality / prevent damage through arrival to our customers.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all safety and sanitation protocols are strictly followed.
- Conduct required safety training and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Report and document any safety incidents or accidents with a focus on capturing lessons learned to prevent reoccurrence.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, process waste streams, employee performance, and safety / quality incidents.
- Prepare and submit productivity reports to management.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in supply chain, manufacturing, organizational leadership or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in warehousing with at least 1 year in a leadership role. Lean Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control standards.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve team obstacles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk safely up and down stairs, ladders, and near production equipment.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to seasonal temperature variations in a warehouse and outside grounds environment, variable noise levels, moving equipment in a fast-paced environment.
