Position Overview
Based in Dallas, TX and reporting to the Vice President, the Director of Learning & Development is a strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing comprehensive training programs that align with the mission and operational goals of client. This Leader will spear head the development of learning initiatives that drive excellence in fine dining service, hospitality, leadership, and business operations.
This role demands a fine dining background and experience within organizations undergoing rapid expansion, ensuring training programs enhance both frontline execution and high-level leadership capabilities. The Director will work closely with senior leadership, restaurant operators, and the HR team to foster an organizational culture rooted in elevated service standards, guest experience excellence, and continuous learning.
Primary Job Duties :
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following :
Strategic Learning & Development Initiatives
Design and implement a comprehensive learningstrategy that supportsbusiness growth, operational excellence, and leadership development.
Develop and manage trainingprograms for fine dining servicestandards, hospitality
excellence, new hire onboarding, leadership development, and compliance training.
Establish scalabletraining frameworks to support the company’s expansion into new
markets while maintaining brand consistency.
Lead needsassessments and gap analyses to identify learningpriorities and create targeted solutions for performance improvement.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programsthrough key performance indicators (KPIs) and data-driven insights, continuously refining learning strategies.
Operational Training& Team Development
Work with restaurant operators, executive chefs, and front-of-house leadership to ensure operational training is alignedwith fine dining and luxury service expectations.
Develop and oversee management training programs to build leadership capability within restaurant teams, ensuring a pipeline of high-performing talent.
Implement hands-on training experiences, including workshops, immersive simulations, and mentorship programs to enhance execution at all levels.
Ensure all training aligns with operational goals, service excellence, and hospitality culture, reinforcing a world-class guest experience.
Engagement & Culture Building
Drive team member engagement initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and development.
Act as a consultant to senior leadership on team effectiveness, talent development, and performance coaching.
Facilitate leadership workshops, off-site retreats, and team-building events that promote collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.
Implement recognition and incentive programsthat reinforce trainingsuccess and reward exceptional performance.
Compliance & Standardization
Ensure all training programs align with federal, state, and local compliance requirements, particularly in food safety and workplace regulations.
Maintain up-to-date SOPs and trainingmanuals to standardize service expectations across all restaurant locations.
Support the HR team in furtherdeveloping talent processesand career pathing frameworks
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fine dining, hospitality leadership, and large-scale training program development. This role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on execution, ensuring training programs drive both short-term performance and long- term growth.
Minimum of 5 years in designing and implementing diverse learning solutions, preferably withinluxury hospitality or fine dining.
At least 3 yearsof experience in a food and beveragemanagement / leadership role or a combination of relevant education and experience.
Deep understanding of fine dining service standards, front and back-of-house operations, and luxury hospitality expectations.
Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and leadership development frameworks.
Experience working in organizations with rapid expansion, ensuring scalable learning solutions.
Proven ability to engageand influence senior leaders while also being hands-on in training delivery.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to measure trainingeffectiveness and make data-driven recommendations.
Domestic travel up to 70% across the portfolio to deliver training and ensure program success.
Bachelor’s degree in Business,Human Resources, Organizational Development,
Hospitality Management, or a related field.
Excellent communication skills, both writtenand verbal, with the abilityto craft compelling training content and presentations.
Proficient in Microsoft OfficeSuite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)and learning management systems (LMS).
