As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Assistant with experience/or certification in HACCP and food industry compliance to help maintain and improve our quality standards.
Job Summary:
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Assistant will support the Quality Assurance (QA) team in ensuring that all food safety protocols, quality control measures, and regulatory compliance standards are met. This role is ideal for someone with HACCP certification and experience in food safety, quality audits, and documentation processes within the food manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining HACCP plans, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), SQF audits and other food safety programs.
- Conduct quality checks on raw materials, production processes, and finished products to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Support internal and external food safety audits, ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor sanitation procedures and food safety protocols, ensuring employees follow proper handling practices.
- Investigate and report non-conformance, customer complaints, and deviations from quality standards.
- Maintain and organize food safety documentation, including batch records, HACCP plans, and audit reports.
- Train employees on food safety practices and quality control measures.
- Assist in supplier verification and compliance with food safety requirements.
- Collaborate with the production and warehouse teams to ensure product integrity and food safety throughout the supply chain.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- HACCP certification (Required).
- 1-3 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related role in the food industry.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, FSMA, SQF, BRC, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve food safety issues.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for documentation and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with third-party audits and food safety inspections.
- Familiarity with allergen control programs, sanitation practices, and microbiological testing.
- Training experience in food safety and HACCP principles.
