What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNA - Outpatient position at Suncoast Center?
Job Duties:
- Assists in the treatment of patients dealing with mental illness, measuring vital signs (e.g.: pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height) and records information directly into the EHR.
- Assists in steady flow of appointments between clients and providers and ensuring up to date treatment plans are routed to appropriate staff.
- Maintains productivity requirements equally with other CNA co-workers.
- Updates Releases of Information to Primary Care Physicians in the EHR, for all applicable clients.
- Daily monitors, responds, directs, and documents medication line calls utilizing Microsoft Outlook and the EHR.
- Documents all client interactions relating to the medication line in the client record.
- Daily follows up on pending unresolved medication line issues.
- Daily responds to assigned pharmacy refill request faxes, and only forwards unworkable requests to LPNs or medical staff.
- Corresponds via phone and email frequently with medical staff, LPNs, clients, and pharmacies, regarding prescription concerns, and agency policies.
- Must be able to research client medication concerns adeptly in the EHR.
- Must be able to think critically.
- Must be able to complete agency incident reports when applicable.
- Must be able to complete deaf and hard of hearing assessments on applicable clients.
- Updates diagnosis codes in EHR based on medical provider feedback.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School diploma or GED certificate
Licensure: Certified as nursing assistant
Experience: Some experience working in a psychiatric setting preferred
Additional Requirements:
Must be 21 years of age.
Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment.
Clear Criminal Background Check throughout employment with Suncoast Center and local checks prior to hire and annually along with DCF Level II prior to hire and as required by DCF, and Must have valid Florida Driver’s License Motor Vehicle checks prior to hire and annually with acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment along with reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance. (must be in compliance with Florida Laws and Administrative Codes with fingerprinting and determined to be of good moral character).
Must be able to provide official transcripts.
Working Conditions:
High paced environment in a community mental health outpatient facility serving both children and adults. Candidate will serve as a liaison between the medical providers, clients, and other agency staff. Candidate must have the ability to handle pressure and appropriately prioritize tasks. Speed and accuracy are a must along with organizational skills. This position is expected to be able to deal with the public, medical staff and other agency staff in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner. Excellent phone and written communication skills. Must comprehend and have knowledge of HIPAA privacy guidelines concerning confidentiality.
Computer Literate:
Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions via email; type legibly, and be comfortable with electronic systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and experience with medical EHR systems is preferable.
