POSITION TITLE: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE- (LPN)- OBGYN
FLSA: NON-EXEMPT
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Administer medications, including injections and IV fluids, and document administration details accurately in patient charts.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition, including adverse reactions to treatments or medications, and take appropriate action.
- Record vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Provide direct patient care, including wound care, bed sore treatment, and assistance with clinical procedures.
- Perform routine tests, including pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and blood sugar checks via finger sticks, and document results.
- Assist physicians during exams and procedures, such as ultrasounds, Pap smears, and contraceptive insertions or removals.
- Support prenatal and postpartum care, offering education on birthing plans, family planning, and reproductive health.
- Maintain clean, safe exam rooms by sterilizing equipment and ensuring readiness for procedures.
- Offer patient education, emotional support, and guidance to patients and their families.
- Serve as a telephone triage nurse, managing medication refills, referrals, and coordinating care as needed.
- Document patient information, progress, and treatments accurately in medical records, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, referrals, and follow-ups related to OB/GYN services.
- Oversee inventory management, including logging, storing, and monitoring the expiration dates of medications and supplies.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to assess patient needs, develop and adjust care plans, and implement effective interventions.
- Evaluate nursing care outcomes and communicate findings to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Supervise and assist ancillary staff, such as medical assistants, to support smooth clinic operations.
- Help providers manage patient flow, triage cases, and deliver health education.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards to ensure patient well-being.
- Participate in required training sessions, including CPR, Infection Control, OSHA updates, and other mandatory programs.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and healthcare standards.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the clinic and its patients effectively.

Education and Experience:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Diploma is required.
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Florida state license is required.
- BLS is required
- At least two years related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry patients or equipment up to 50 pounds, with assistance when necessary.
- Push, pull, and reposition patients as required for care and comfort.
- Bend, kneel, and squat to provide care and access equipment.
- Ability to perform manual tasks such as taking vital signs, dressing wounds, and administering medications.
- Good hand-eye coordination for tasks like administering injections, handling medical instruments, and operating equipment.
- Ability to speak clearly to communicate with patients, families, and staff, and to hear and understand communication in a busy clinical environment.
- Visual acuity to assess patient conditions and accurately read medical charts, medication labels, and patient records.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under stressful or emergency situations.
- Ability to use fine motor skills for tasks like drawing up medications, using medical devices, and assisting with clinical procedures.
- Ability to understand and/or interpret complicated program instructions and Florida laws.
- Must be able to travel to various center locations as required.
