Description
TITLE : Dispatcher
LOCATION : Houston, TX
POSITION REPORTS TO : Dispatch Manager
SCHEDULE : Night shift. 6pm-6am. 7-day schedule; must be able to work weekends and extended shifts, must have a flexible schedule.
COMPENSATION : Commensurate with experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a high level of service is maintained and delivery expectations are met, while maximizing efficiencies relative to customer needs
- Coordinate, schedule and dispatch drivers to appropriate locations according to orders, customer requests or specifications
- Ensure drivers arrive within scheduled timeframe as instructed by customer
- Identify priorities and utilize available resources effectively to meet these priorities
- Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, supervisors and co-workers, providing concise instruction or information
- Use effective listening skills to collect required information and escalate pertinent information
- Data entry and heavy volume of phone calls
- Confer with customers and / or other personnel to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment
- Assist drivers and keep coworkers informed of daily activities
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by manager
