This individual analyzes data to locate trends and mitigate losses to the credit union and its members. Key responsibilities include researching and investigating disputed transactions for ACH, ITM, ATM, debit card and credit bureaus, interviewing fraud victims and suspects, obtaining and reviewing evidence, and determining facts from information. This individual also provides detailed information to assist Dispute Representatives in the resolution of disputed transactions. An ideal incumbent works independently, thinks critically, and makes data-driven recommendations.
- Extract data to research, analyze, and detect trends and patterns for all disputes channels
- Identify reporting requirements and write complex SQL Queries to extract information, trends, or patterns contained in the data
- Review and monitor for fraudulent or unauthorized activity
- Receives and processes escalations for more complex investigations
- Communicate results to Disputes Representatives, and if needed, Disputes leadership
- Performs quality assurance functions to ensure accuracy and consistency of data and information being processed
- Maintains required performance standards for quality, communication, promptness, and identifying fraud trends
- Follow service standards, policies, and guidelines set forth by Suncoast, Visa International for card services, FCRA for credit bureau disputes, and NACHA for ACH disputes
- Adheres to Regulation E (CFPB) rules for debit card, ATM, and ACH disputes
- Occasionally assist Dispute Representatives to ensure that disputed member transactions for ACH, ATM, ITM, debit card and credit bureau are investigated, processed accurately, and on a timely basis, including reversals and required correspondence
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
- Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employees' role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, risk management, or a related field (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.)
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the dispute industry, specific to dispute analytics
- Ability to analyze data and identify trends
- Proficient knowledge of MS SQL relational database theory and practice
- Proficient knowledge of report development in a SQL environment
- Proficient with data visualization tools like Power Bi, Tableau or QlikAbility to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
- Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and often complex problems or situations
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
- Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties
