What are the responsibilities and job description for the Economic Development Officer position at Suncoast Credit Union?
The Economic Development Officer seeks, develops, and maintains relationships with organizations, decision-makers, leaders, and influencers to position Suncoast Credit Union as a financial leader. Key responsibilities include building, nurturing, sustaining, and growing community relationships to promote the value proposition of Suncoast, promote a positive community image, and stimulate growth. The overall objective is to acquire the business of community partners, its employees, and stakeholders to deepen their financial relationships with Suncoast. An ideal incumbent is energetic, detail-oriented, and creative to actively promote Suncoast Credit Union.
- Provide local credit union presence and representation at key community functions
- Collaborate with mission-aligned organizations to improve the financial lives of Suncoast members through inclusive financial wellness programs and products
- Reinforcement the value of savings, building credit, and maintaining a sustainable budget
- Align with key community stakeholders, including city and political leaders, to provide access to individuals and businesses in need of credit union’s products and services
- Build and maintain effective relationships with federal and state policymakers
- Attend and actively engage in meetings, collaborative sessions, networking events, and community outreach to build, sustain, and support the communities that Suncoast serves
- Manage community outreach activities such as public speaking engagements, event planning, and partnerships with local organizations
- Create an exceptional member service experience at onsite meetings with local constituents
- Bring the “One Company” initiative of building qualified referral production to other internal Line of Business partners (STIS, CUSO’s, Mortgages, Workplace Banking, Community Impact and Business Services).
- Collaborate with Marketing to promote a positive public image
- Collaborate with the internal steering committee of vice presidents and senior-level stakeholders to ensure resource alignment, build ongoing comradery, and facilitate system alignment
- Make business development decisions on behalf of the credit union
- Support the creation and sustainability of inclusive and financially stable communities in alignment with the Community Outreach team and Suncoast Foundation
- Provide Suncoast representation where impactful decisions are made as it relates to workforce, economic development, political advocacy, and affordable housing
- Address the community inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner; serve as a credit union Ambassador of Goodwill
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
- Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employees' role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.)
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in financial services, banking, revenue cycle, credit card, or payments industries
- A minimum of 5 years of experience with client management or agency
- Proficient with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Proficient with conducting and managing sales presentations
- Existing community presence and engagement
- Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
- Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and often complex problems or situations
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
- Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties
