What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at SunCoast Pathology Associates?
Requires reliable transportation. Draws at assisted living facilities in morning.
Duties:
- Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens from patients
- Prepare and label specimens for laboratory testing
- Follow proper aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile and safe environment
- Verify patient information and ensure accurate labeling of specimens
- Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control procedures
- Provide exceptional patient care and ensure patient comfort during the blood sampling process
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program
- Certification as a phlebotomist preferred
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and laboratory techniques
- Proficient in venipuncture and other blood collection methods
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide compassionate patient service
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of HIPAA regulations
