ABOUT THIS POSITION

Residential Project Management (RPM) is where dreams become reality in the solar process for customers. Through effective leadership, the Manager of Residential Solar Projects helps to drive SunCommon’s success by overseeing the installation pipeline and schedule, ensuring all jobs are handled efficiently, and creating a joyful experience for our customers.

We seek an experienced professional with a proven track record leading a process-driven team to reach goals while maintaining an engaging and supportive work environment. The Manager of Residential Solar Projects is responsible for forecasting our installation capacity and schedule, providing customers with the highest quality service, and reporting and analyzing results. This position requires a high level of operational and customer

service experience and the ability to coach these skills in others.

The Manager of Residential Solar Projects works across departments ensuring both internal and external customers receive clear and timely communications. They are the primary Operations hub for subcontractors, utilities, permitting authorities, and other key partner-contacts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager of Residential Solar Projects is responsible for:

  • Supervise and mentor SunCommon Residential Project Managers with a focus on team & individual growth, staffing, and cross functional communications.
  • Effectively manage a portfolio of residential customers when necessary to support the Project Managers and the pipeline.
  • Ensure task accountability and defined timelines are upheld and communicated.
  • Manage residential installation calendar and ensure team goals are met by accurately forecasting job milestone durations and installation capacity.
  • Identify internal and external issues/risks which impede project delivery. Develop, communicate and implement solutions.
  • Prepare regular status reports on project movement and deviation from goals for senior leadership.
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors, utilities, permitting authorities, and inspectors to ensure strong partnerships and efficient workflow.
  • Handle elevated customer situations with patience, compassion, and fairness to the customer and the business.
  • Create and maintain training materials to onboard and train new team members.
Requirements:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a strong, energetic Manager of Residential Solar Projects to bring these attributes:

Ideal candidate will have a successful track record managing and leading fast paced, goal oriented teams.

  • 3 years of project management or equivalent experience.
  • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities at any given time and to establish priorities for others.
  • Top-notch customer service skills with a passion for delivering a joyful customer experience.
  • Solutions oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strong team member with superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM Software, NetSuite, Expensify, and Google Apos.
  • Project Management Certifications and experience in solar construction/installation preferred.

  • 3 weeks paid personal leave (combined vacation and sick) for year 1; 4 weeks for year 2 and beyond

  • Company contribution toward retirement (401k company match 1:1 up to 3% of pay that the employee sets aside, then 1:2 match for 4 or 5%) or 3% of pay toward the employee’s college student loan debt
