What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Inspector position at Suncor Stainless/Atlantis Rail?
Suncor Stainless Inc., located in the Plymouth Industrial Park has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Quality Control Inspector. Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM.
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for first article, in process, and final inspections for a manufacturing facility. The candidate will have a solid background with inspection and the use of manual tools, gauges.
Essential job functions:
- Inspection and testing of manufactured parts and products and reports findings to QC Manager
- Perform required inspection, examination, and testing of materials and components in accordance with the Quality Control Manual and applicable procedures
- Conduct in-process inspections of manufactured products
- Conduct First Article Inspections
- Perform final inspections
- Perform tests using Universal Tensile Test equipment, Hardness Tester, XRF Material Scan’s, various measuring tools
- Work with manufacturing personal to resolve quality issues as needed
- Assist Receiving Department checking incoming material
Technical Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical training regarding Quality Control standards essential
- Must possess knowledge of general machine shop procedures
- Must be able to read and understand technical drawings
- Strong communication skills are essential
- Strong analytical required
- Solid background with inspection and the use of measuring tools including micrometers, thread micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, pin gages
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft software (Word and Excel); MS Outlook; and MRP systems helpful.
- Ability to perform sampling audits
- Ability to interact with all individuals at all organizational levels; conducts self in professional manner and applies active communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift over 50 lbs., and move about in a manufacturing environment.
Education and Experience:
- A two-year technical program and/or college is preferred.
- Experience with inspection techniques, technical specifications, engineering change notices, and established operating procedures.
- Experience working independently and with minimum supervision.
