Job Overview:
As a Garden Center Associate at Suncrest Gardens, you will be an essential part of our team, assisting in daily operations at our retail garden center. This is a seasonal position that could begin as early as mid-March and will conclude by the beginning of June. We are looking for both part-time and full-time associates to join our team. Responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service, helping with plant care, stocking and organizing inventory, cashiering, and assisting with deliveries and carry-outs. You will play a vital role in ensuring our garden center is organized and welcoming while meeting customer needs and maintaining a high level of service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and assisting with plant and garden product recommendations.
- Assist customers with their purchases, including carrying out products and loading them into their vehicles.
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently at the cashier station.
- Maintain the overall appearance of the garden center by stocking products, ensuring inventory is organized, and keeping displays attractive.
- Water, prune, and care for plants to ensure they are healthy and ready for sale.
- Assist in greenhouse care and maintenance, ensuring plants are well taken care of and properly displayed.
- Help with deliveries by loading and unloading plants and supplies, and assist with planting or setting up installations at customer locations (if applicable).
- Perform general site maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, minor repairs, and ensuring the garden center is tidy and safe.
Qualifications:
- Customer Service (retail experience): Prior retail or customer service experience is highly desirable.
- Plant Knowledge/Greenhouse Experience: Knowledge of plants and gardening is a plus, as is experience in greenhouse environments.
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to be on your feet for extended periods and handle physical tasks throughout the day.
- Ability to Lift 25 lbs Frequently: Must be able to lift, carry, and move garden materials, tools, and products weighing up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to interact with customers and team members in a friendly and professional manner.
- Reliability and Punctuality: Dependable and punctual with the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Team Player: Ability to work well within a team, collaborating with others to meet the goals of the garden center.
- Seasonal Availability: This is a seasonal position. Applicants must be available from mid-March through early June.
