What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa?
The beautiful Sundial Beach Resort located on Sanibel Island, Florida is seeking a dynamic Assistant Controller to join our team!
Essential Functions:
- Process bi-weekly payroll.
- Reconcile tips/gratuities, differential rates, and hours to be charged to another department; resolve discrepancies with the respective manager.
- Track sales tax on projects and sales tax reporting.
- Accounts Receivable posting and reconciliation.
- Post city ledger payments in property management system, reconcile and bill all city ledger accounts.
- Record General Ledger and City Ledger reconciliations.
- Ensure all house charges are adjusted weekly. Maintain accounts receivable ledger.
- Maintain a complete understanding of internal audit/night audit procedures.
- Prepare credit applications to send to vendors & collect W-9.
- Ensure all daily, weekly, and month-end reports are completed to standards.
- Maintain a clean and accurate chart of accounts (understand how transactions should be treated (assets, liabilities, equity, income and expenses)
- Help with balance sheets, reclass/accruals, and other company financial statements and reports as needed.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly forecasting of revenue, expenses, and occupancy as needed.
- Assist with Bank & C.C reconciliation/journal entries
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years' general accounting experience and two (2) years as a manager of an accounting department.
- Full-Service Hotel experience (preferably in a condo resort).
- Opera experience required
- Proficiency in finance related computer programs, including Excel.
- Knowledge of city, county, state and federal regulations related to maintaining and reporting on financial data.
- Ability to effectively interact in a professional manner with management team, guests, condo owners, and resort ownership.
- Excellent organizational, time management, computer skills and strong analytical skills.
