What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Services Supervisor position at Sunflower County Consolidated School District?
Responsibilities:
The successful Custodian will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school premises, including buildings, grounds, and equipment. This includes:
• Maintaining buildings and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas
• Regulating heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
• Ensuring all exit doors are locked and panic bars are functioning properly during occupancy hours
• Sweeping classrooms daily and dusting furniture weekly
• Cleaning corridors throughout the day and after school each day
• Scrubbing and disinfecting toilets and bathroom floors daily
• Cleaning sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily
• Washing windows on both the inside and outside at least twice a year
• Performing yard chores, such as grass cutting and tree trimming, to maintain safe and attractive school grounds
• Making minor building repairs and reporting major issues to the principal promptly
• Replacing light bulbs as needed
• Assuming responsibility for opening and closing the building each school day, ensuring all doors/windows are secured and unnecessary lights are turned off
• Conducting ongoing general maintenance, upkeep, and repair programs
• Storing and disposing of trash, rubbish, and waste in compliance with local regulations
• Moving furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal
• Attending in-service/staff development training
• Informing the principal of needed supplies, equipment, and requisitions in a timely manner to avoid hindering custodian duties
• Remaining on school premises during school hours except during lunch
• Attending school functions during non-school hours when authorized and services are requested/needed
• Maintaining a regular schedule of motor and other mechanical equipment servicing
• Cleaning and repairing equipment and furniture on a timely basis
• Painting walls and furniture if time permits
Qualifications:
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in custodial services or related field preferred
