We are seeking a highly skilled School Resource/Safety Officer to join our team at Sunflower County Consolidated School District. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and property.
About the Role
The School Resource/Safety Officer will be responsible for providing consulting advice to administrators on plans for safety, emergency preparedness, traffic flow, evacuation, lighting, and video surveillance. You will also provide training to students, faculty, administrators, and parent groups regarding safety issues such as personal safety, bus safety, and drug awareness. Additionally, you will serve as liaison/facilitator between the school system and local law enforcement agencies to coordinate law enforcement efforts with regards to the schools.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consulting advice to administrators on safety and security matters
* Develop and implement safety plans and protocols
* Provide training to students, faculty, and parents on safety issues
* Serve as liaison/facilitator between the school system and local law enforcement agencies
* Investigate suspected criminal activity on school property
* Make arrests on school property when necessary
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a high school diploma and graduate of Basic Law Enforcement Officer Training Program. You should also have three years of law enforcement experience and good physical condition with the ability to lift 10 pounds.
Evaluation and Compensation
Performance of this job will be evaluated bi-annually by the Superintendent. Salary and work year established by SCCSD School Board.
