Grocery Buyer

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensuring the department is well stocked and rotated.
• Place orders according to established ordering schedule and system.
• Creating visual arrangements for displays and ensuring all pricing and signage is correct.
• Keeping the department clean and organized, including washing displays and cleaning up spills.
• Checking inventory for damage and freshness.
• Removing expired products from shelves.

· Maintains and ensures the maintenance of a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment while ensuring compliance with established procedures such as Weights and Measures and inspections.

· Sustains level of knowledge and awareness to industry trends

· Stay informed of latest developments and trends in department products.

· Maintain department equipment and report issues to the store manager.

· Keep the store clean and monitor cooler/freezer temperatures.

Requirements and Qualifications

· Consistently lift and move up to 50 pounds.

· Consistently stand and walk for extended periods of time, and work in cold and wet conditions.

· Bend and reach products on lower or higher shelves.

· Ability to bend, squat, twist and reach.

· At least one year of buying and merchandising for a department in a natural food store.

· Knowledge of organic, natural, and NON-GMO.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic retail environment.

· Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to manage multiple demands and remain calm under pressure.

· Ability to have schedule reflect the needs of the business.

· Proficiency in email and Microsoft Office

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
