Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Manager to join our electrical company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical safety, along with experience developing and enforcing safety protocols to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves overseeing the safety program, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safety-first culture to protect employees and ensure the successful and safe completion of electrical projects.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and other relevant safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of job sites, equipment, and work practices to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and other staff to assess safety needs and ensure adherence to safety protocols during electrical installations, maintenance, and renovations.
- Provide training to employees on safety procedures, electrical hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices.
- Conduct accident investigations to determine the cause of incidents and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate safety records, including accident reports, safety audits, and training logs, and ensure that they are up-to-date and in compliance with legal requirements.
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency preparedness drills to reinforce safety awareness among all employees.
- Stay informed about new safety regulations, standards, and best practices in the electrical industry, and ensure that the company’s safety program is updated accordingly.
- Develop and manage the company’s safety budget, ensuring that necessary safety equipment and resources are provided to employees.
- Monitor and track safety performance metrics and work with management to set safety goals and improve overall performance.
- Collaborate with leadership to ensure that safety is a top priority in all project planning and execution phases.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, NEC, and other relevant safety standards in the electrical industry.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Strong ability to conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training, coaching, and working with all levels of staff.
- Ability to create and deliver engaging safety training sessions and materials.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
- Experience in managing safety performance metrics and reporting on safety performance to senior leadership.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions to safety challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification in safety management or safety-related certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST, OSHA 30/40-hour) is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in safety management, particularly within the electrical or construction industry.
- Knowledge of electrical safety hazards, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with safety software and tools used for tracking and reporting safety incidents and performance metrics.
