Position:
Needham Public Schools seeks outstanding applicants of diverse backgrounds and experiences for the position of Principal at the Sunita Williams Elementary School, a growingly diverse school community serving 533 students in grades K-5. The Sunita Williams School is the home of the Elementary Learning Center, the district’s special education program for students with autism and similar learning profiles who need a more specialized approach to learning. The principal will lead a school and join a team that actively seeks to ensure equity for all students and builds on the work to enhance an anti-racist school culture.
The leadership team at Sunita Williams consists of the Principal, an Assistant Principal, Teacher Leaders, and a Special Education Administrator. This team works closely with district leaders and the other principals to focus on the district goals embedded in the Portrait of Needham Graduate Strategic Priorities.
The school district enjoys tremendous support from the School Committee, parents, Town Manager, Selectmen, and Finance Committee. We work collaboratively with Needham's Youth Services, Public Health, Park and Recreation, Police and Fire, Public Facilities, Library, and Council on Aging. Needham is a wonderful place to work!
Qualifications:
The district seeks an experienced administrator with demonstrated success as an elementary school leader in diverse communities. The successful candidate should have at least 3-5 years as an Elementary school principal, assistant principal, or similar leadership experience with a Master's degree or higher in educational leadership. License:
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license as an Elementary School Principal
Compensation:
The salary and benefits will be highly competitive for the region. Six weeks paid vacation, 15 sick days, two personal days, and participation in Town benefits including medical, dental, and life insurance.
Selection Procedure:
All resumés will be screened and selected candidates will participate in a thorough interview process (please see the attached timeline). The closing date to apply for this position is March 18, 2025.
The interview process includes several interviews that will begin from March through mid-April. An initial interview will occur with a screening committee. Semi-finalists will be selected to meet with the Superintendent, central office administrators, and the district's principals. The third interview will consist of finalists spending the day in the district learning about the Sunita Williams school community and the larger Needham community. The final step in the process will include a site visit to the finalists' school and district.
