What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpenter position at Sunkota Construction?
The Sunkota Construction Team Is looking to hire experienced, self-motivated carpenters that possess a wide range of skill sets including, but not limited to framing, trimming and siding. Carpenters receive the satisfaction of working on and being a part of all phases of construction and seeing projects through to completion.
Carpenters are full-time, year-round employees who are paid based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Handle the demolition, construction, installation, and repair of commercial structures, including walls, floors, roof framing, stairways, windows, and siding.
- Install a variety of components such as casework, bathroom accessories, door frames and slabs, door hardware, and both exterior and interior trim.
- Engage in basic wood and steel framing for walls, doors, windows, and other elements.
- Utilize hand or power tools to replace damaged or faulty parts of structures.
- Assemble scaffolding and set up ladders for tasks above ground levels.
- Interpret building plans and specs to create and determine dimensions.
- Read and understand blueprints, diagrams and instructions. Must utilize mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to complete job requirements.
- Transport materials as needed around the jobsite.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations to maintain a secure and orderly work environment.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, a friendly team environment within the organization, and interact positively with trade partners.
- Demonstrate initiative to stay productive and ensure the smooth progression of the job.
- Sequencing of scope of work in proper order.
Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to use hand and power tools (must provide own hand tools).
- Positive communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in commercial building construction is preferred.
- Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications.
- Ability to adhere to schedules and still maintain work quality.
- Adaptability and ability to change priorities as they dynamically shift.
- Analytical thinking/problem solving.
- Attention-to-detail in your work.
Physical:
- Able to work in all elements of the outdoor environment
- Able to access all areas of the jobsite including stairs, scaffolding, ladders, elevation changes, etc.
- Capable of working in physical positions that may include kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending over, etc. for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to move, carry, or position items weighing up to 75 pounds.
