DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Class A CDL Truck Driver performs the following tasks :
Operate company owned and leased trucks over 4 tons to facilitate shipping and receiving operations
Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup and relocation of customer products and materials
This position will be on-site, no miles driven – focus on trailer moves in the yard
Perform required before, during and after operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports
Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations
Operate material handling equipment
Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition
Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations
Maintain a level of professionalism at all times
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
Hazmat / tanker endorsement
Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment
Ability to safely drive various vehicles
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work independently
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization
Must pass a background check
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
Must have at least 2 years recent driving experience with a Class A CDL
Must have minimal infractions on a 3 year MVR report
Must have a current Class A CDL and DOT card
Must be able to pass a road test administered by the company
Yard dog / tractor experience preferred
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, one (1) year relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
Possess or have ability to become forklift certified
Valid State CDL License
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read and interpret documents, including protocols, standard operating procedures, customer orders, and pick tickets.
REASONING ABILITY :
Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
