Lithium Site QEHS Manager

As a Site QEHS Manager, you will play a pivotal role in promoting a culture of quality, safety, environmental protection, and compliance at Sunlight Batteries USA. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of Quality Control and EHS functions, making you an essential bridge between management and staff. You will be instrumental in keeping Sunlight Batteries USA compliant with all Sunlight Batteries USA requirements and assisting in the implementation of Quality Control and EHS policies and procedures. Your role will involve providing guidance on various quality and EHS matters, such as quality specifications, vendor claims and audits, customer claims, OSHA safety guidelines, Sunlight Batteries health and safety guidelines, waste disposal, and compliance with environmental laws. You'll be responsible for fostering a positive safe workplace culture and ensuring all employees are properly trained. Additionally, you will collaborate with other departments to address quality and EHS needs and maintain accurate records through SAP and third-party EHS software. This position will require you to be adept at critical thinking, communication, and follow-through, with exceptional attention to detail-oriented projects.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Director of QEHS Americas
  • Provide support for all quality and EHS communications across the plant
  • Act as the first point of contact for all environmental, safety, health, and quality concerns (including being available for off-shift needs when necessary)
  • Lead routine EHS compliance training and new hire orientation as needed
    1. Continuously review and improve training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, including required trainings per OSHA, EPA, and local requirements
  • Facilitate and participate in investigations for Quality and EHS non-conformances and collaboratively perform root cause analyses with the assistance of other departments and develop preventative/corrective actions
    1. Including quality non-conformances in Assembly as well as customer warranty claims, incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, etc.
  • Collaborate with the QC Warranty Administrator to facilitate corrective actions based on customer claims
  • Own and regularly monitor the supplier audit program
    1. Communicate with all strategic supplies for improvement and implementation of additional controls and corrective actions when required
  • Own and regularly monitor scrap program
    1. Ensure scrap is properly controlled and reported
  • Prepare and produce daily/weekly/monthly reports for operations and the Director of QEHS including quality non-conformances and EHS metrics
    1. Non-conformances, scrap counts, incidents, near misses, corrective actions, environmental incidences, etc.
  • Help improve, implement, and coordinate with the Director of QEHS Americas on various other quality and EHS projects/programs
  • Supervise the safety and health of all employees through inspections, job hazard analyses, incident investigations, etc.
  • Maintain all quality and EHS records
  • Perform all administrative duties required like timecard approvals, reporting, paperwork, etc.
  • Become a critical employee to Sunlight Batteries USA Lithium operations
  • Work with all departments at the plant to continuously develop the quality and EHS departments and work culture
  • Participate in the maintenance of all ISO documentation by updating quality control and EHS guidelines as necessary
  • Collaborate with HR and the Director of QEHS Americas on all incidents that develop into worker compensation claims
  • Train and mentor employees to reinforce safety guidelines and foster a safe workplace culture

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality practices and principles
  • Root cause analysis, 5-why, D8 and CAPA management experience
  • Lean manufacturing certification, ASQ, CMQ, CQIA certification (preferred, or willingness to acquire)
  • Strong MS Office experience (excel, word, etc.)
  • SAP experience
  • Auditing experience
  • ISO experience
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (preferred, or willingness to acquire)
  • Strong team player with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines and adapt to an evolving work environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
