What are the responsibilities and job description for the River Ranch Foreman - Hardin, MT position at Sunlight Ranch?
Job Purpose:
The River Ranch Foreman will lead the River Ranch team on the various aspects of the ranch operations, including the ongoing conversion from traditionally managed pivots and farm ground to a regeneratively focused livestock integrated operation. This role involves leading personnel, implementing strategic and adaptive farm and grazing plans, and maintaining the overall well-being of the River Ranch.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily activities related to crop cultivation, livestock management, and general ranch operations
- Embrace a culture of managing Healthy Cattle and Healthy Soil
- Lead the River Ranch team, providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
- Proficiency in electric fence usage in combination with center pivots and/or open pasture
- Stock water management and development
- Under the direction of the Ceded Strip Manager develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and responsible resource allocation
- Oversee farm and grazing plans to maximize yields and build soil health
- Exemplify and enhance a safety-driven culture
- Perform and supervise maintenance, coordinate necessary repairs and upgrades for farm equipment, buildings, and infrastructure to ensure operational readiness
- Supervise and operate center pivots to include regular maintenance, monitoring booster pumps, and cleaning pump screens as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field; or associated work experience
- Leadership experience which demonstrates strategic planning skills and successful accomplishments
- Strong desire for animal husbandry
- Experience with and a passion for regenerative agriculture
- Knowledge of modern farm equipment and technologies including pivots and irrigation
- Problem-solving skills and with an adaptive mindset; willingness to embrace change
