POSITION SUMMARY
The Molding Manager is responsible for ensuring the Tucson, AZ injection molding department meets the cost, quality, and on-time delivery requirements for molded components. The Molding Manager is responsible for defining objectives and providing leadership for the following positions: Process Engineers, Molding Scheduler, Molding Supervisors, Team Leaders, Mold Setters, Material Handlers, and Molding Operators.

KNOWLEDGE Acquired through education, certifications, training, experience.
LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE
- Injection molding experience; tool set-up, processing and trouble shooting
- Experience with injection molding tool design
- Experience processing PVC, polypropylene, polyethylene, polycarbonate, and other traditional medical grade materials
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assume leadership and responsibility for all Tucson, AZ injection molding operations.
- Support continuous improvement activities in the plant with a primary focus on cost, quality, and on-time delivery of molded components.
- Establish measurement processes and maintain procedures to measure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Develop and maintain Lean Manufacturing initiatives to support Single Minute Die Exchanges (SMED).
- Coordinate and communicate schedule changes or department problems with other shift supervisors, planning, tooling and leadership.
- Prepares and reviews accident reports, shift reports, performance metrics, and other production-related paperwork
- Coordinate projects and production changes for any unforeseen issues.
- Oversee and ensure that all safety guidelines are being used and all department employees meet training requirements.
- Assists supervisors and molding technicians to improve quality and output of molded components.
- Coordinate with the tool room leader to ensure the molding tools are production ready as needed. Ensure molds are repaired, and preventative maintenance is performed in a timely manner to support production demand.
- Make recommendations and coordinate maintenance to repair production equipment.
- Responsible for suggesting molding equipment, and for developing equipment specifications.
- Develops capital expense justifications and assists with budget development.
- Supervises molding operating parameters and related support equipment.
- Assist and make recommendations to Product Engineering with the development of product/process improvements.
- Make recommendations as to the technical feasibility for resolving product or process problems.
- Assists in training and development of department personnel.
- Manage the molding team to perform equipment and mold validations that deliver quality components, on budget, and on-time.
- Assist the team with root cause analysis, and corrective action solutions. Use appropriate quality tools to drive root cause analysis for molding problems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs for new and existing processes. Provide process training as required to technicians, operators, and support staff.
- Oversee the development of quotes and plans to qualify molding suppliers.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Support New Product Development projects as defined by company priorities.
- Perform other molding department duties as required by management.
- Identify and implement Value Improvement Projects (VIP).

- Identify time consuming tool change problems and implement solutions for performing tool changes in less than 1 hour.
- Evaluate the team’s resources to determine if tools are needed to perform their job efficiently and effectively.
- Evaluate the state of primary and auxiliary injection molding equipment. Make improvement suggestions to support the capacity expansion of injection molding operations.
- Evaluate the tooling conditions and develop a list of tooling improvements. Establish a schedule to make tooling improvements and maintain production demand.
- Develop clear and concise molding production reports.
- Develop molding project reports that identify actions and provide completion dates
