Meat Clerk, Sunny Farms Country Store – Sequim, WA

In search of an enthusiastic, customer & team-focused, friendly meat department clerk to join our team. You will be responsible for helping customers at the counter with their selection, weighing, packaging, and labeling of meat and seafood products.

This is a full-time position (35-41 hours/week).

Shift. This closing position will require flexibility with regards to scheduled workdays and shifts to cover the department’s needs, filling in for vacations, etc.

Requirements:

  • Customer service and food handling experience preferred, but not required.
  • Washington Food Worker Card is required.
  • Don't be shy! You'll need the ability to make eye contact, smile and say, "Thank you" or "You're welcome". It can't be over emphasized -- a positive attitude is critical no matter the role at Sunny Farms.
  • Good communication skills are helpful. You will need to assist customers over the phone and/or meat case in a busy, often-times noisy environment.
  • Friendly/welcoming/gracious with teammates & customers.
  • Represent Sunny Farms in the community with a positive image. We want you to genuinely care for the business.
  • Share in the responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe work area. Going the extra distance here will earn the crew's respect and get you noticed by ownership. Anyone interested in rounding out their skill set may want to learn to butcher eventually. Doing the bare minimum shows you don't care about the business, moving up, or work references (your future).

Physical Demands & Safety Expectations. Most positions at Sunny Farms require physical effort to varying degrees. This may include using personal protective equipment when and where required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, and safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job, you are regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, use hands, fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, smell, talk, and hear.

You must continuously lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
